『偉ノ丈』
三連休の二日目、さっぱり予定が無いところに無理ぐりねじ込んでの外出。
先週購入した下駄、既に桐製の台にひび割れが見られ、暇に明かした闇雲な歩行における酷使の結果だろうと諦めざるを得ない。
からころからころと目的地を目指す。
到着。
入れ違いに出てきた女子ふたり組、「暑いねー」なんて日傘を拡げ去ってゆく。
中に入ると、その女子らが座っていただろう席しか空いていない様子。
着席。
店内には二匹のフレンチブルが昼寝している。
扇風機前に陣取り、涼しげなことこの上ない。
銘柄は失念したが、ドラフトビールを。
何かのひとつ覚えの如くアヴォカドバーガーも。
手前よりフレンチフライ、アヴォカドバーガー
ハイタワァ
「いやん」
フレンチフライのソルト＆ペッパー具合はややきつ目としても、厚みのあるバンズ、肉厚なパティ、刻まれたピクルス、スライスされたトマト、しゃっきりレタスをはさんで盛って積まれた高さヴィジュアルは、完食後の征服感という別効果を産む。
最来店も考慮し、割れた桐下駄を履き直して、からころからころと店を後にするのだった。

Mrs. Agathe’s dishwasher quit working so she called a repairman. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told him, “I’ll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I’ll mail you the check. Oh, and by the way…don’t worry about my Doberman. He won’t bother you. But, whatever you do, do NOT under ANY circumstances talk to my parrot!” When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Agathe’s apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Doberman he had ever seen. But just as she had said, the dog simply laid there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business. However, the whole time the parrot drove him nuts with his incessant cursing, yelling and name-calling. Finally the repairman couldn’t contain himself any longer and yelled, “Shut up, you stupid ugly bird!” To which the parrot replied, “Get him, Spike!”
